LOCAL ARTIST Melani Jordaan
I live alongside a river at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains and continually draw inspiration from the natural surroundings which beckon to me as an escape.
Working mainly in oils, Melani creates larger scale figurative paintings aiming to portray raw and deep emotion in the faces, hands and eyes of her subjects.
The tragic loss of her sister was the catalyst to get her back to her easel as she found healing and solace in the process of painting. Melani lives alongside a river at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains and continually draw inspiration from her natural surroundings which beckon to her as an escape. She describes her oil painting technique as one of “letting go”- shrouding her realism in a dreamy nostalgia.
