Landia is a contemporary South African sculptress who works in clay.

Her sculptures are about being brave enough to be vulnerable. They are reminders or invitations to cherish naivety and value playfulness in the midst of complexity and life’s challenges.

Her current body of work is about celebrating our raw human emotions and forging our individual identities with disregard (even defiance) for tidy labels and categories.

Landia wants the viewer to ask “what is it?” and hopefully find that defining the form is not as important as feeling its state of being. Gender and genus don’t really matter.

As a shy human Landia is finding her voice and her sculptures are the manifestations of this process.

Currently, Landia works near Swellendam in the Western Cape.
