Maria le Roux is a self-taught amateur oil painter from Swellendam, South Africa. Stylistically, she focuses on colour and light, and most of her works are impressionistic. Many of her paintings celebrate the beauty of the Overberg that has been her home for the past 20 years.

Maria is also an accomplished potter and was a student of master potter David Schlapobersky for many years.

In 2022 she entered three of her artworks in an international online art competition hosted by Artavita and was selected as a finalist. She was subsequently invited to publish her art as a sponsored artist in the publication International Contemporary Masters. In 2023 Maria was chosen as one of the ten best artists on the Artavita website. Maria has had two solo exhibitions of her work.
