Marnitz Steyn was born deaf and attended the Trans Oranje School for the deaf in Pretoria where his talent for
drawing was first noticed.

He finds the Cape landscape a constant source of inspiration.
Much of his work is an emotional response to the beauty that he sees and feels around him and he enjoys
interpreting the colors created as the light plays across the countryside.

He does not prefer any specific medium but he loves the way the palette knife gives the finished work a fresh feel. His time is mostly occupied by commission work.
